Story Time: One Of My Puppies Found Me!

Story time, my favorite time.  Sometimes there are things that can't be photographed.  Like conversations and coincidence.  Not long after I got to TX momma posted in an FB group asking what everyones favorite skin care products for CC's were and attached my picture from my previous owner.  She got lots of great suggestions.  Then she got a message asking if I originally came from Oklahoma.  We looked at each other and said "how did she know?" We replied back and said yes.  She then told us that she was thinking of adopting me when my previous owner decided to rehome me but at the time could not.  The next thing she posted was shocking!  She said that she did adopt a male that was born in Janruary from the same person.  It was one of my boys.  His name is now Billy and he looks like a bigger version of me.  Slate with Pink and a White crest.  He has 1 blue eye and 1 brown eye.  He still lives in Oklahoma, just further north.

I did a little snooping (momma calls me the rat theif for my sneaking skills of information and chew chews) and found a pic of him at about 8 weeks.  Little whippersnapper!

And a photo of us just after they were born.

I am hoping to one day get to meet him again.

I Just Wanna Play Wif Her!

There is a border collie that lives next door.  She spends time on nice days porch sitting.  I see her outside from time to time.

Wif the city leash laws we is always kept away from one another.  So I sit and longingly staring at her hoping one day leashes won't exist and puppies can roam freely to play with whatever puppies they wish.

Then I head up to the porch so Poppy and I can go get yum yum bones.

One last longing look...and Bye.

My Couch at Doggy Nanny's House

When ever I arrive at Doggy Nanny's house I have to ensure my blankets are arranged to my liking.

Make circles to get every corner just right.

I must hunt and gather all the toys the other doggies here have carelessly scattered about.

Then I can rest.

Never for long though.  There are always dogs, kids, or plastic bags going by my window and I must bark furiously at them.

Once that is done I go back to resting among my pile of toys.

No more flash photography please momma.  I need a nap I am furry tired.

OTCWF Beginner Scent Work - Week 5

This class was awesome!  I got furry excited when we arrived.  I sat on the dashboard right in front of momma to let her know I was ready.  How else would she ever know?!?!?!?  When I did though my peets hit something and the car started clicking.  It gave me a bamboozle head twist.  Momma said it was  a "blinker" but it was more of a clicking noise.

This time I got to play with Chancey the schnoodle, Buddy the lab/pit mix (Behind me there), and Wolfie the poodle mix.

Miss Martha said this week we would do more elevations, added distractions and then NO TREAT HIDES!  That last part had me bamboozled yet again.

We divided up into littles and bigs again.  We first worked with Miss Martha.  We did elevated hides.  It gave us all a hard time.  But in the end we did it!  Momma brought my clicker this week and that was wonderful.  Hides were placed magically (edit by momma with the rare earth magnent) on a grooming table leg, a folding chair and on a step stool.  The folding chair was hardest for me as it was on the chair back and the scent would come through the space between the back and seat....if that makes any sense.  It does to me.  BOL  She said for at home we can use the fridge as an easy elevated hide.

Then we went to the puppy room with Miss Kelly.  We had regular buckets but the first search there were 2 treats, then 1 treat, then *GASP* no treat.  I got my clicks each time and a treat from momma but still confused bouts no treats in da bucket.  Last but not least we did the pipe wall again working it coming from different sides.   Miss Kelly did me a fright when she put her arm through the pipe to deliver treats.

In between searches while the other littles went we all sat out in the main room, pawrents chatted, puppies played and we all had a good time.  All too soon the clock struck 7 and we had to leave the pawty.  I can't wait to practice elevated hides on the fridge.

Scent Work Practice

We have been doing lots of practice at home with my scent tin.  Most of the time momma doesn't pull out the camera because we are just having too much fun.  But today she decided to get a few pics for me to blog.   Here is the gear for practice.  We got some hole-ee baskets from walmart and they are working perfectly.  In the back you can see a sneaky peaky of my scent case which holds my scent tin and supplies.  (FYI: Ill have a full "Whats in my Scent Work Case" post coming soon.) Last but not least is Bil-jac treats.

Here is my set up.  (its a small search area for the photos sake)

*Sniff Sniff*

This one, yep this one for sure.

Treat time!!!!!!

OTCWF - Beginner Scent Work - Week 4

Another class has come and gone.  This class marks the half way mark.  Time FLIES when your having fun.

I did not scam any cheese this week from Jackson's mom.  I mena, I tried, I just wasnt given any.

We split up with bigs and littles.  First we were with Miss Martha.  She added elevated hides this time.

She said our tins were made of magic (edit by momma: there is a rare earth magnent in our practice tin) and can stick to metal folding chairs.  I looked all overs that chair and by golly it was stuck vertically to the back leg.  That was cool!  She even balanced a treat atop the tin.  SCORE!  We did a few rounds of this and regular box hids with bonus treats for staying at the source.

Each one of us littles were ready to search and were pulling at the leash to get going as soon as we got into the ring.  Thats one thing I love about scent work its literally all about me doing my thing and momma just following.  I don't get in trouble for pulling to go my way, sticking my head in to random boxes or eating things I find on the ground.  And those are the things in life I enjoy!

Next we went to the puppy room with Miss Kelly.  She had scent traps set up.  Its a bunch of plasic bins wif holes in the side on top of our scent tin.  This way we can't touch the treats.  We had to keep showing interest wif sniffing, pawing or looking to momma to let her know which bin to pick up and reveal the treats.  Momma thought for sure I would knock the bin over myself but I was a lady and just stared at it while awaiting my treat.

Then I got to use the plumbing pipe board.  Within the pipe is a secret hole in the back for the scent tin and at the end of the pipe there were treats.  The pipes were on a board making them right at head height for me.  Miss Kelly had us start at one end with momma pointing down at the pipes and giving the search command.  I slowed down right before the pipe with the scent and then noticed the treats.  Yipee!

We waited in the main room while the other littles went through the puppy room doing the pipes and scent traps.  About 6:50 the intermediate class started trickling in and one pup  came in that looked just like aunt Gracie but a tad more blonde and had a full tail.  His name was Wolfie and was as playful as me!  We got a little time to play bow and jump around.  He sure was a sweetie.

Momma got to talking to his momma and found out the other dog with her husband was an Australian Kelpie.  Mommas never gotten to see one in the fur before.  She was a pretty girl and so petite.  Then all too soon the clock struck 7 and it was time to go.  I said my good byes and we headed out.

Breaking News: The Easter Bunny is Still Here!

With today being Easter I though that Easter Bunny would be long gone.  But to my surprise when we rolled into Walmarts Grocery Pick up lane.....there she was again!!!!!!  I barked furiously.

This time she didn't want to grab and hold me, she just wanted to give yum yums.  Aww!  Thank you!

Hoppy Easter

Look who I got to visit with this year.  The Easter Bunny!  She was so sweet and kind and loved my kisses!

Unfortuntely I was captured by that bunny too and it didn't sit well wif me!  I am not a fan of this grabby hold-ee stuffs.

Any hoo....

Hoppy Easter!
Lucy and Poppy

Even back at the car when momma asked how I felt....I was still furry suspicious!

I always imagined bunnys as nice creatures.  *Ponders life*

The Sights and Adventures of Spring

Lucy, Gracie look!  The sun is shining, its 66 degrees and not a rain cloud in sight!  Lets go outside!

What ever shall we do first?

No no Lucy no bitey games right now.

*raspberries*

First we must help grandpa put the do-dad back on....

...the thingamajig.

Next we shall patrol the yard.

Check the perimeter.

Ensuring no spot is left unsniffed.

Once that is finished we can sit back and....

...Enjoy the view.

Oh, yes momma, are you wanting me to pose for a quick picture?

Since you twisted me paw.

Close up wif lotsa tongue. Its my best angle after all.

I have reached maximum sun time.

I am ready to retire inside now.
