Chewy.com Onguard Review

While we were at Lucy Park back in early April I was sniffin and leaving peemail.

Then momma called my name.  She said that she had a surprise package from Chewy.com!!!!!! Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!!!

Inside of the package was a box of Onguard.

Here is a look at they Key Benefits:

Onguard Flea & Tick Treatment for Dogs offers an effective and convenient way to keep your pup protected from pests. This fast-acting topical treatment kills all life stages of fleas and ticks on dogs at least 8 weeks old and ranging from 6 to 22 pounds, and helps control infestations of chewing lice and sarcoptic mange mites. With the time-tested and commonly used fipronil and (S)-methoprene as its two active ingredients, Onguard breaks the flea life cycle and rids your pet of fleas that can cause flea allergy dermatitis. Not only does it wipe out adult fleas, but it keeps new eggs from hatching.

This powerful formula keeps killing Brown dog ticks, American dog ticks, Lone Star ticks and Deer ticks that may carry Lyme disease for up to a month. Application is easy—just squeeze this spot treatment onto your pup’s skin between the shoulder blades. Onguard is long-lasting and waterproof, so it still offers protection even after a bath or if your pup gets caught in the rain.

What's Included
(6) applicators each containing 0.017 fl oz (0.50 ml).

Ingredients
Active Ingredients: Fipronil 9.8%, (S)-Methoprene 8.8%.

Do my eyes deceive me? Did that say topical?  That means no pill?  Well that just had me jumpin' for joy!!!!!!!!  Oops, I jumped right outta frame!

First impression I LOVE the packaging.  Have your pawrent or responsible adult help you with the part.  No pupper or doggo should handle scissors.  The top portion bends back, then you cut the tip off of the applicator.  The coolest part is the portion you bend back serves as a kick stand.  This is nice so if you run off because you fear something unfun is coming the pawrent can set it on the counter and retrieve you off of the back of the back of the recliner....hypothetically speaking of course. :)

Part the hair then two quick presses of the applicator and its done!  That is the easiest medicine I have ever taken.

So if your looking for flea and tick protection that is easy to administer, has great packaging and is affordable for any budget, check out Chewy.com's Ongard

Update: As of 4-30-18 this product has been on for exactly 4 weeks, I am happy to report no fleas or ticks have been found.  Yipee!!!!

I'm Still Working on my Manners

Yesterday morning we got up furry early, I got on my most spring-ee harness and we headed to Petsmart.  Momma said we were going to do some window shopping and work on my manners again.  Oh boy click-n-treats!!!!! As I stated on my fb page.  I was hitting about 50/50.  When people ooh and aah at me its hard to sit still, however,  #practicemakesprogress you gotta practice all da time.

After Petsmart we went to the grocery pick up line at walmart.  Then we went Golf Cartin!  While at the park we worked on stay.  Momma was furry proud especially since there were squirrels and barking dogs in every direction.  #focusedpoodle

#ChewyInfluencer Burt's Bees Waterless Shampoo for Dogs Review

Welcome Furiends today I have a fabulous review for you.  It is about the Burt's Bee's Waterless Shampoo!!!!

I think Spring has sprung and may just stick around this time.

And as you all know I LOVE playing at the park.

After digging holes in the sand, a few trips down the slides, and numerous trips through the tunnels you get a little warm and well.....STINKY!

And as my Dogtor back in KY told momma, you should only bathe your dog about once every two weeks.  Any more and you strip them of their natural oils and can create dry itchy skin.

So when I heard about this product I knew I would have to try it out. Sniff test.

Oh my its a light scent and quite refreshing!  Ok lets take a look at the key benefits.

Key Benefits
  • Gentle waterless shampoo featuring apple and honey to nourish and honey for a super shiny coat.
  • Honey helps regulate and retain moisture in hair and strengthens hair follicles for healthy growth while eucalyptus is a natural deodorizer.
  • Simple to use, simple spray your pup from behind their ears to their tail and massage into their coat. Towel dry and you're done. It's perfect for spot cleaning and muddy paws.
  • pH balanced formula specific for dogs as their skin is much less acidic than humans. It helps avoid over drying their skin which leads to redness or flakes.
  • 97% natural, made cruelty-free, and contains no sulfates or colorants so you can have peace of mind.
Now its time for the spritz test!!!!!!  Wow that was super easy!

I have used this again after the dog park and momma says I smelled quite nice!  I give this a 5(*****) rating for ease of use, great smell and extending the time between baffs.  Yes!

Did you know Chewy.com carry's a full line of Burt's Bee's products including waterless shampoo, conditioner, pet wipes, and even puppy shampoos.  Go check it out and see which product best fits your lifestyle.  I am sticking with the waterless shampoo fur sure!!!!

Upcycled Jars

Since momma has been filling lots of Kongs lately we have a nice little collection of glass jars sitting around the kitchen.  So I got the bright idea to take two of them and turn them into storage for my impawtant things.  The taller of the two has my Sentinel.  The shorter one has my jewelry bag with my silver bone tag (for photoshoots).  I think these little jars are adorable.

Mommas almost finished another jar with todays Kong.  Hmm, what else could I store in these?

Loosing my Carseat, Organizing my Collars, and Tug Tug

Saturday, was all cloudy and rainy so no golf cart rides were taken.  Color me sad but since that was the day the yaptop cord arrived it did give me time to get caught up on blogging.  So here are some fun photos from the phone.

When in the car momma says I whine, bounce around, and get anxious.  No momma, its excitement hoping to get to go to Aunt Gracies!!!  Well she thought of  different things to get me to calm down and well nothing worked.  If she gave me a chewy I chewed them on the edge of the carseat and throw them in the floor resulting in her having to pick them up constantly.  We can't really do obedience/clicker training when she is driving.  And if she were to crate me well lets just say her ear drums would probably burst so that would not be a good idea while driving.  So her final attempt was made while we were in the pick up line at walmart.  Yep she de-carseated me!  As the carseat went flying into the back of the MM a number of things were found.  My harness, the mail, and a large collection of chew chews.  Seems I am a hoarder!

The car ride home, in mommas words, was peaceful.  I must agree.  I could chew as I pleased and when them darn chews jumped in the floor I could retrieve them myself with no help required.

While at walmart we got the usual grocery items but the last bag had something special.  Momma said its to help her stay organized.  My doggie closet (she wouldn't even let me take a picture its so bad) is a mess.  Mainly due to too much stuff....but when we pull a box out its hard to get it back in the stack without moving a ton more stuff.  So we got a little cart with shelves to keep the boxes we get into the most.

Now my collar/harness boxes will have their own shelf and they can be put away easier instead of stuffed at the bottom of the closet.  This is as far as we have gotten so far but will be working on it more soon.

Last but not least momma snapped this pic of me bringing her my tug tug.  This is our nightly routine.  While she is cooking dinner and picking up we play tug tug/fetch.  Right now my favorite toy is my easter worm.

So....This Happened.

So last weekend I found myself bored and well this happened.

Yep.  I chewed the yaptop cord and momma was NOT happies about it.  She threatened to sell me to gypsies!  Apparently yaptop cords are spensive.  I have no excuse this time!

So I offered distraction, SQUIRREL!!!!!!

Thankfully 5 days later a new cord arrived via Amazon and all is well in the apartment again.

Now we will be back to blogging!

For Kong The Magic Number is 3!

They say all good things come in 3's.  Well when I was offered the opportunity to review a 3-pack of Kongs, I said YES YES YES Please!

For those who may not know Kongs are rubber toys that have a slot inside for treats.

We all have busy lives.  There are golf cart rides to take, pawrents have to work, and there are always squirrels to chase.  That means limited time in the to do stuff each and everyday. Kong came up with a cute motto: 1. Play Today, 2. Freeze for Later, and 3. Wash for Tomorrow.
Here is my favorite Kong recipe.  I have baby food (green beans, turkey and/or ham), crunchy bones, Healthy Extentions heart shaped treats and some soft treats.

Here is one momma just filled.

Once filled the Kong small fits nicely in the silver condiment cups from Sams Club and momma pops it in the freezer.

Meanwhile we had one getting chilled.  Oh my is that cheese I spy with my little poodle eye?

Why yes, yes it is!

OH MY DOG!!!!  This is pawsome!

Once it goes through my canine pre-wash its ready for the dishwasher.

Heartworm Preventative Review: Sentinel VS Interceptor Plus By Katie

When we moved to Texas and I was  researching the vet clinics, one question I had was did they carry Interceptor.  Its a full coverage (Roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, tapeworm and heartworm) preventative and budget friendly so that is why I chose to use it many years ago.   The clinics here in TX didn't offer it but they did have Sentinel which doesn't cover the tape worms (spread by fleas) but covers everything else important (roundworm, whipworm, hookworm and heartworm).  I saw images of it on the internet and got excited at how small it looked was but no site showed a size comparison.  From previous experience using Trifexis I know some pills can be rather large.  On vaccination day I picked up a 6 pack.

For April I decided to do a full review on Sentinel VS Interceptor Plus.

Right from the start I was pleased at its size and texture.  It was a true pill tablet and not a "chewable" tablet.   The Sentinel pill is about 1/3 the size of the Interceptor Plus.

The Sentinel pill was almost the exact same size as her Bil-jac training treats.

Side by side and....

....Standing up.

It even has an "L" on it.  It was meant to be!!!!  :)

For this portion sorry for no pics.  I wanted to give my full attention to Lucy to ensure she got the medicine.  So for the official "test" I concealed the pill in two bil-jac treats, got Lucy excited by doing tricks, gave a non-pill treat, then delivered the heartworm filled treat.  It took her just half a second longer to eat the pill-filled treat and it went right down, no questions asked.  After giving her the pill I let her sniff the package and she was not bothered by the smell.  I asked to to touch, tap and check-it.  She had not one problem with that either. To say the least I am PLEASED with Sentinel and hopefully this will lessen the issues we have had in the past of her not wanting to take her heartworm preventative and looking at me as the bad guy.

Over all thoughts are as follows.  Sentinel is budget friendly at about $7.50 (at our clinic) per pill.  Size, smell and texture made it easy to conceal and administer.  I am very happy with my purchase and ignorance is bliss on Lucy's part!!!
