Life with Lucy Review: Embark Dog DNA Test (Part 2/2)

6-1-17 If you missed part 1 click here to see the unboxing of my Embark DNA test.

The results have arrived!  My tail was wagging with excitement.  Would it be confirmed I am a purebred Toy Poodle or a doodle-mutt.  Oh the suspense was killing me!

Per Embark Laboratories I am 100% Toy Poodle and I have a medium "wolfiness" score of 1.2%!  So that means I inherited quite a few genes from my wild ancestors!!!  My predicted adult weight is 8 pounds.  Right now I am 7 so I don't have much growing left to do.  Mommas happy about that.  My genetic age  at the time of testing (tested April 19th) was 15 human years.  When momma saw that she said "Ah ha".  Not exactly sure what that was for but something bouts "selective hearing, naughty youngster behavior and blah blah blah".

A big surprise with the test results was that you be able to download a full printable file with all your DNA information included.  Page one has the Embark Certificate of Breed.  This is going right in my doggie book.

Next in the document packet is my health screenings.  I came back clear on all 158!  YIPEE!!!

My Embark clinical traits did show that I have a gene mutation that may show lower resting levels of ALT levels (Liver) on my bloodwork.  Good to know for future reference and vet visits.

The last document I have shows my physical traits.  Such as my  red, curly, and non-shedding furs. Momma went deep in the rabbit hole of genetics after looking at this page.  She was reading for hours!  I played with Mr. Lizard while she was down there.
Through the information provided about my traits.  I have 2 recessive (ee) genes.  This turns a dominant black dog (or indeed, any dog) into a solid red dog with black nose pigment. Yep thats me red furs with black points.

It also included my "Inbreeding Coefficient" which was low (4%) meaning I have a diverse genetic background.  Here is my Chromosome graph, inbreeding areas are shaded blue.

As far as the processing of my test, I loved receiving pupdate emails from the Embark laboratory.

It made the wait seem so short knowing where they were in the process.

So for part 2 of this review Embark Laboratories gets another A+ from me!  If you are interested in getting tested I would highly recommend this company.  From ordering, to testing and to receiving the results I was impressed with the quality and customer service.

Puppy Growls,
Lucy
