Swimmin' Sunday

Its getting warmer here in KY so momma brought home a big water dish for me. Once momma filled it with waters you will never believe what she did!  She tossed my toys in there.  What the heck?

Um momma why did you put me in my new water dish?

Turns out it was not a water dish but a swimmin' pool.  It did feel nice on my feets but it worried me, I didn't know if it was a trick to get me to take a baff.  You know mommas are tricky like that!

Life with Lucy Review: Embark Dog DNA Test (Part 2/2)

6-1-17 If you missed part 1 click here to see the unboxing of my Embark DNA test.

The results have arrived!  My tail was wagging with excitement.  Would it be confirmed I am a purebred Toy Poodle or a doodle-mutt.  Oh the suspense was killing me!

Per Embark Laboratories I am 100% Toy Poodle and I have a medium "wolfiness" score of 1.2%!  So that means I inherited quite a few genes from my wild ancestors!!!  My predicted adult weight is 8 pounds.  Right now I am 7 so I don't have much growing left to do.  Mommas happy about that.  My genetic age  at the time of testing (tested April 19th) was 15 human years.  When momma saw that she said "Ah ha".  Not exactly sure what that was for but something bouts "selective hearing, naughty youngster behavior and blah blah blah".

A big surprise with the test results was that you be able to download a full printable file with all your DNA information included.  Page one has the Embark Certificate of Breed.  This is going right in my doggie book.

Next in the document packet is my health screenings.  I came back clear on all 158!  YIPEE!!!

My Embark clinical traits did show that I have a gene mutation that may show lower resting levels of ALT levels (Liver) on my bloodwork.  Good to know for future reference and vet visits.

The last document I have shows my physical traits.  Such as my  red, curly, and non-shedding furs. Momma went deep in the rabbit hole of genetics after looking at this page.  She was reading for hours!  I played with Mr. Lizard while she was down there.
Through the information provided about my traits.  I have 2 recessive (ee) genes.  This turns a dominant black dog (or indeed, any dog) into a solid red dog with black nose pigment. Yep thats me red furs with black points.

It also included my "Inbreeding Coefficient" which was low (4%) meaning I have a diverse genetic background.  Here is my Chromosome graph, inbreeding areas are shaded blue.

As far as the processing of my test, I loved receiving pupdate emails from the Embark laboratory.

It made the wait seem so short knowing where they were in the process.

So for part 2 of this review Embark Laboratories gets another A+ from me!  If you are interested in getting tested I would highly recommend this company.  From ordering, to testing and to receiving the results I was impressed with the quality and customer service.

Horses, Donkeys, and Attack Chihuahuas....OH MY!

There are lots of creatures living on my road.  There are pastures with horses.....

...and my pawsonal favorite Miniature Donkeys.

And do you see what I see?  Yep a BABY!  Aww momma can I have one?  He could fit in the back of the golf cart!!!!

The momma donkeys did a good job protecting their babies and after a quick sniff she kept nudging him/her back from the fence.

At the end of this ride we got chased by a 25 pound chihuahua. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture but we were literally rolling for our life.  I made sure to stay furry still at mommas side till he turned around and went home.

Recall Training - WITH DISTRACTIONS!

Oh my dog!  I had a fun night last night wif momma doing recall training.  When I am at home, at the store, and at the vet I listen very well to momma.  Everytime we go outside or are out in public we work on it. When I am at Aunt Gracies however, my ears turn off and well momma says thats no good.  So we went up to Aunt Gracies while she was inside and started doing recall with distraction training.  It took a long time for me to quit looking for Gracie but when I did and listened to momma I got a click and a treat!  OH boy!  We went back and forth in her drive way doing come and then getting the ok to go back and see if Aunt Gracie was in the yard.  After that we went down the road to the field (where I do my zoomies) and did stay/recall training.  The distraction here was all the wonderful smells and I'll admit it was difficult but I did it!  Even when the big Labrador down the road was barking I stayed focused.

When we got home I posted about training on my facie-booky page then took a nap while momma did the dishes.  Momma got this candid shot of me stretched out on my kitchen bed!

I slept like a baby last night and woke up feeling refreshed and ready for a day of bitey face with Aunt Gracie!

Thought I Found a Dinosaur!!!

After our walkie, we hopped on the golf cart to take a ride.  As we neared the end of our road I spotted something odd!

As we got closer, it turned and went into attack pose!

Then he decided to take off.

Bye

Momma said it was a crawdad...but to me it looked like some prehistoric creature!   Either way those pinchers don't look to nice and cuddly.
