2022 Clinical Drug Study - New Month New Trial

As one heartworm trial ends another one was beginning.  Dr. Hoffman asked if I wanted to pawticipate.

Oh boy do I ever!!!!!  This will be a one dose long term (either inject-able or topical) heartworm medication.  No Pills....FUR sure sign me up!

So after turning in my binder on the 1st study I had to stay with Dr. Hoffman and get some tests run.  Heartworm, bloodwork, physical.  Then later that afternoon momma came to pick me up and get the full run down on this study.  And would you believe when she returned to pick me up she forgot her cell phone.  The same cell phone that she has literally super glued to her hand at all times.  So there are no additional pictures from the pick up visit.  I am so sorry.  Good help is seriously hard to find these days.  Anyhoo. Brenden let us know we get the *excluded information due to blind study* type of medication, went over the consent forms, and let us know about the adverse reactions to watch for/record.  The medication was administered and a follow up call will come the following day to see if any reactions happened.  This medication lasts for 6 months and I will receive 3 total doses (18 months of coverage total).  I will have a 4 month visit, 6 month visit (to be redosed), 8 month visit, 12 month visit (to be redosed again) and a 14 month final check up.  Fun times.  Here is my new study binder.

So it will be a bit before my next update but its now been 24 hours since the medication was administered and I have had no side effects.  The dosing was super easy and now I am done with heartworm prevention for 6 whole months.  That is literally just a huge relief.  I feel so free!!!!!!!!

It's FLUFFIN HOT!

We are technically in the "preheat" season of summer here in Texas.  However its just fluffin' hot.  Friday evening after Poppy borked up the neighbors she came in and literally melted into a hairless puddle.

I spent most of the weekend in bed.  It was too hot too move.  Thankfully our house has a powerful ac and it kept us nice and cool.

We did venture out once to get momma a shake and this is what the car read....yes that is 111 degrees.

Just after we pulled up a big altercation broke out at the sonic.  The lady in red was throwing things inside the building and chased the lady in black (in the doorway) around the parking lot.  The chase ended just in front of our car where both ladies ended up on the ground and the lady in red had her weapon taken away.  Super scary.

We all were in shock.  Momma called 911, I was watching hoping someone would come let me play and Pop borked at them for getting to close to the car.  Yep we is a traveling circus.

Moments later the police showed up.  3 units in fact.

I had a blast watching the action.  And I had a front row seat too.

2022 K9 Influenza Vaccine Study - Visit 1

We got the text that our appointment was for June 9th at 620 pm.

This study is being conducted by Dr. Rouillard.  He works at Pets and Animal Hospital here in WF.  This study dubbed Project Sphinx is testing the use of a smaller dose (.5 ml) of the Canine influenza vaccine.  It was shown in research to be effective with less side effects.

When we arrived we were greeted by the Dogtor and his technician.  Dr Rouillard went over the study requirements, eligibility, and process.  We verified:

-We have our current vaccines and haven't been vaccinated or have a need to be vaccinated withing a 1 week of this trial.
-We will be able to attend all three visits.
-Momma will be able to monitor our health and injection site daily.

Momma signed paperwork to enroll us and got our profiles with the clinic set up.

Then they took us back one by one to be weighed.

We did spot some of the dogs in the trial with us.  It was a three pack of pibbles.  OMG so cute and all well behaved.  Unlike some hairless members of my pack.  BOL

When it was time we were pulled back into an exam room.

Our names were entered into the database and we were given study case numbers.

The drug study boxes were pulled out.  Ooh fancy!

We were officially given our drug study binders

Then we had to have exams.  Temp, physical and then injection.  I reviewed the paperwork and gave the tech lots of wags and kisses!

Then it was sissys turn.  I made myself comfortable and kept an eye on her.

She gave no wags or kisses.  She just kept side stepping trying to get away from the tech.  Momma she keeps sliding me back towards her.  I don't like this.

Post exam I made sure to give sissy extra kisses to make her feels better.

Obligatory waiting room photo with our books.

Once back in the car we got back to business.

Momma caught a great shot for the twisted sister collection.

Lucy buck up....I didn't even bite you that hard.

Our new binders were added to the collection and whew!  We were DONE!

Going Out With Coworkers

Momma came home one evening saying we get to go have dinner and celebrate Mr G's retirement.  Oh boy I am SOOO EXCITED!

What you mean puppies arent invited?  Thats not nice.

When momma got home I showed my unhappiness of late supper and being left home alone.

But alas I was furry tired and may have fallen asleep as she rubbed my tummy.
