Hunting Pesky Squirrels Makes Me Sleepy!

When I did my photo shoot at the mail box I had a run in wif a squirrel.  |As we were packing up a squirrel jumped on top of the bank of mail boxes and stared us down.  Momma froze for a moment.  Then she shewed him away.  I asked her why she didn't get a picture of the pesky little rat and she said our safety is more important.  Momma I have a blog to maintain!  Photos before safety next time!  BOL!  Anyhoo, Once I was leashed back up I tried to track him down.

Yep he's up there.  But far too high for me to climb! You got away with it this time but Ill be waiting.

After the excitement I had to go take a nap.

Ended Up at the Vet on Momma's Day Off

Days off should be for golf carting, not vet visits.  It began Tuesday May 29th.  We had the maintenance man coming to fix our light and internet.  We had a power outage that knocked both out.  Scary stuffs!  After the maintenance man left momma and I were doing tricks and tossing the toys around the apartment when it happened.  I laid down to let momma know I was ready to fetch and I screamed.  Something hurt furry badly.  I ran to momma to be held.  I wasn't limping so momma thought maybe I stepped wrong or something on the floor poked me.  Later that morning I went to daycare and was fine till what ever hurt earlier hurt again.  I cried and got in doggy nanny's lap and laid down for the afternoon.  When we got home momma put me down on the ground turned back to get her work bag and I was just standing there and it happened again.  I cried.  When we got inside I was just following momma around and it happened two more times.  Momma scooped me up and gave me a liquid medicine sneak attack.  Not cool momma, not cool!  But it did make what ever was hurting go away for the night.

The next morning, mommas day off, I woke up fine, followed momma around  and acted normal.  Then I went outside to do my business and I screamed louder than ever before.  Momma got scared and decided we would be visiting the vet to see what was wrong.  Thats what led us here...

In the waiting room I acted fine so fine that when anyone would approach I immediate flopped on my back and tinkled per my usual routine.  Momma was puzzled!  The nurse called me back and in the exam room I weighed 12.2 same as last time.  The nurse asked what brought me in today.  Momma explained what happened the last 24 hours and her concerns wif my knees.  After she wrote everything down she ask momma to unclip my leash so she could see how I was walking.  Of couse nothing was hurting at this moment so I walked fine.  She reached down to pick me up and I tinkled again.  Oops.  She said the dogtor would be in soon for the exam. Quick exam table selfie!

Oh I think I hear him.

no? wait...hmmm...

There are no pokes today right?!?!?!

While we waited I got to looking around the room and noticed a bottle of cheese.  I wonder what you have to do to get veterinary cheese?!?!?  I can do just about any trick!

Then Dr. Wurster joined us in the exam room.  He examined my legs, checked my back and looked me over.  He said it must have been a sprained muscle that caused me cry.  He released me with pain meds and sent me home for rest.  The nurse added try and keep her calm and quite....yea she laughed as she said it too.  Hmm...is she trying to say I am a little rambunctious?  She's right I don't deny!

We paid and headed for home.  Quick pose with my meds!  CHEESE!

Let's pack them up and get home.  It's hot out here!

Hurry momma, I'm melting!

Since that morning just before my vet visit I haven't had cried again in pain.  So glad these meds have made that mean hurt go away.  I still have a fear of peeing in the back yard, so now we have to go out front.  Better safe than sorry.

Side Note From Momma: Knowing her past history with pills I was thrilled it not a chewable.  When we got home I let her sniff the pill bottle and a pill to show her that nothing bad would happen when she smelled this particular scent.   I used a pill crusher to grind the pill, then sprinkled it in a serving of canned food and she was none the wiser.  Keeping notes in this blog about what works and doesn't work has been interesting to look back on so I thought I would throw this in.  :)

Leaving Texas.....

...To visit family in Oklahoma.  This adventure took us to Piedmont OK to visit Uncle Bobby and his family.  Oh boy.  So we loaded up in Doggy Nanny's jeep and set out for the border.

Not long after we left Doggy Nanny's drive way I became.... I was....well...whiny....momma's term not mine.  I wanted to sit wif Doggy Nanny.  Momma kept saying "that's enough' and "no". But I don't think she really commited to the "no".  And I asked her 5.2 billion more times.

After about 2.6 billion whines she threatened  every 10 miles to crate me on the next trip.  That was not cute momma, not cute at all!

To make the trip go by faster momma brought us BRAND NEW CET CHEWS!  Unfortunately they did no good. I took matters into my own paws hopped in the floor board to find my other chew chew that I wanted.

After a about 14.5 doggie hours we arrived at Uncle Bobbys house.  We leashed up and headed inside.

Silly momma thought I needed to be leashed.  Sheesh! However I made my self right at home.

The first furry resident I met was Marco, the kitty.  She was so pretty.

Marco checking out the doggie gear.

I wanted to play but she just gave me a "look".  Marco I Lucy the smoochie poodle.   If you come close I give you kisses!

Next I had to see was the chickens.

They have a coop bigger than my doggie closet!  It was awesome!  Mr Disco the cool Rooster did elude me this time.  But just you wait Disco I will find you next time and I will kiss you!

After the coop tour the men got to cooking.  They cooked fish, hush puppies, deviled eggs and french fries. I made sure to snoopervise to ensure it was done properly.

I sampled as much as a I could as they were cooking.  All was quite delicious!

Onto the other furry residnets Uncle Bobby has 3 puppers in addition to the chickens and Marco.  There is Bella (shih tzu mix), Coco (Chihuahua) and Cooper (Beagle).  Cooper and I had similar energy levels since we are both young puppers and boy did we have a time playing chase.

After the food was finished.  We retired ourselves under the table.

Gracie and I fell into food comas.

While we slept the hoomans talked about the good old days.

All too soon the day was winding down and it was time to head back to the Lone Star State.  Uncle Bobby and Miss Shelly loaded us up wif foodies to take home.  Thank you!!!  I attempted multiple times to dig into them on the way home but momma caught me each time.  She told me no.  Something about "tummy aches" that I might "explode" if I ate anything else.  So I decided to just nap. Then I tried to convince doggy nanny to help me.  No luck!

We would like to send a big THANK YOU to Bobby, Shelly, and the Boys for having us out for a day of fun!

The Lizard-ing Hour

Every night I look for lizards when we leave Doggy Nanny's house.  Seems that 10 o' clock is the lizard-ing hour.  Almost every night there is Martin next to the door. Lately though there has been a little pink tailed lizard hanging out on the porch along side him.  Momma kept forgetting her phone, its so hard to find good help these days, and we haven't gotten a pic of them together.  But then the night she did remember the phone there was an amazing sight!  It was FOUR lizards on the porch.  We got three of them in one shot.  Here is the FB edited photo wif labels.

The other was all by him/herself at the other end of the porch and we couldn't get a shot.  When he/she saw the flash go off they took off a the speed of lizard.
